The Devil in Me Story Trailer Makes Me Think About Hill House Haunting
The Devil In Me is Supermassive’s next installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology. A new trailer was released along with a glimpse at the story. It’s all great and all, but the Dark Pictures Anthology format and vague setting notes have triggered a thought in me that I cannot shake. I want something The Haunting of Hill House like, and it should be in this format.
Supermassive Games is the studio behind Until Dawn and House of Ashes. Although they have a lot of samey big plot twists the format keeps them on my radar. The Devil in Me is a TV show that drops a crew into a recreation H. H. Holmes’ crime scene. However, the main villain looks a lot more Saw-inspired. Holmes, widely considered America’s first serial killer, is slowly becoming a mythical figure in pop culture. This is where I think I see it going. Anyway, trailer:
Although The Quarry is still on my to-do list, I am realizing that my fascination with these games has nothing to do with a well-written plot. I enjoy the setting, the style and presentation, but what I love most is the drama that comes with a co-op narrative experience. Even before Supermassive allowed me to play with a friend, the nights of pass-the-controller after Until Dawn launched dominated many college weekends.
