Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 is a strategy video game developed by Electronic Arts, Los Angeles. Red Alert 3 maintains the core real-time strategy mechanics from the Command & Conquer series. Conflicting factions use vulnerable collectors to harvest resources and build military bases and forces. The tech tree is a complex but shallow structure that can house a wide range of units and superweapons. The weapon types are so specialized that a rifleman can take direct hits from an anti-tank cannon. Red Alert 3’s most significant improvements are the addition of the Empire of the Rising Sun faction to the sub-series, expanded naval warfare, and a cooperative campaign.
Cooperative play is possible in the single-player campaign. Each mission can be played with an ally. These missions can be played online with another player. A computer controls it. Teams’ income is shared, and they often start with the same forces. Simple commands can be given to computerized characters, such as to move to a particular place or strike a target. Each side has nine missions. The plotlines of each side are mutually exclusive.
