Overwatch 2 Reveals Sombra Rework

Overwatch2 has been pushed to the sidelines due to the ongoing lawsuit against Activision Blizzard regarding gender discrimination. This doesn’t mean has stopped developing. Blizzard’s team is still hard at work preparing the online multiplayer shooter and will likely be eager to share more information with fans. It’s been followed up today, sharing plans to rework Sombra in Overwatch2.

Blizzard surprised dropped the update details Sombra via Twitter with a message that read, “Boop!” All the latest abilities for Sombra in Overwatch 2. This post contains a graphic that details all Sombra’s abilities and attacks, as well as what has been changed and what is entirely new. Even though Sombra won’t be completely reinvented in Overwatch, Overwatch players will agree that Sombra may play completely differently in Overwatch.

Sombra’s passive ability Opportunist, which is currently used to detect enemies below 50% health, has received a significant buff. Opportunist, which allows Sombra to detect enemies below 50%, even through walls, is currently being enhanced. Her passive now adds an offensive element to Sombra’s attack, giving her a dangerous 50% damage boost to hacking targets. This is in contrast to Sombra’s Machine Pistol base attack, which has been side-graded. The damage has been decreased from 8 to 7, but the bullet spread has been cut by 20%.

Translocate is a key to Sombra’s mobility. It hasn’t changed since and. Stealth has made some interesting changes. The detection radius has been extended from 2 to 4 meters and the fade-in has been reduced by half. The hack does not remove Stealth but it briefly makes Sombra visible. The hack is also altered but serves a different purpose. It now has a cooldown of 3 seconds and a duration of 8 seconds. It locks abilities for one second and does not lock five. Additionally, it reveals enemies to the entire team. Hack, when combined with Sombra’s Opportunist bonus harm, makes players a huge target.

Finally, Sombra’s Ultimate ability. EMP’s “additional” shield-specific damage has been removed. This assumes that all its 10,000 damage will be replaced. Sombra’s Ultimate will instead do 40% of the enemy’s current HP. This means that even enemies don’t have shields or armor and aren’t fully healthy, EMP can still have a positive impact on their health.

It suffices to say that Sombra will play drastically differently in Overwatch 2.. Hack and her passive, Opportunist are the most significant changes. Sombra will have the ability to sneak up on her opponents and hack them. She can also deal 50% more damage while maintaining stealth. She will be unable to create large team fight opportunities. Instead, she will be able to strategically disrupt opponents at key moments and deal independent damage. Overwatch2 will be a significant meta shift.
