APES is a well-known guild in the World of Warcraft Classic community. They are most famous for their success in Classic 2 years ago when they became the first guild to defeat Ragnaros in Molten Core during the first week of Classic’s launch.

Classic saw APES continue to gain momentum, with boss kills early on and high-ranking speed clears.

Despite smaller raid sizes in The Burning Crusade, APES continued raiding as a guild, achieving a top-five place for Gruuls kills and Magtheridon kills.

Yesterday Guild Master and Raid Leader Maitoz announced on his stream that he would be quitting World of Warcraft, and the guild would no longer be raiding.

A few days before the release of Tier 5 content, Serpentshrine Cavern raids and Tempest Keep raids were released. The guild called it quits.

Maitoz later stated in his stream that Classic started to decline after Blackwing Lair was released and that he wished he had quit sooner.

Maitoz cites other issues in his reasons for quitting. These include Blizzard’s recent monetization, rampant bots around the world, instances of the game becoming a “money machine” for boosters and GDKP run, and “the magic form wow kinda died.”

Many guilds may see the end of APES as the beginning of their end since TBC isn’t what many people expected. Most guilds are motivated by loyalty and comradery, just like Maitoz stated.
