Metal Gear’s David Hayter Wants to Play Wolverine in a New Game
David Hayter would like to play Wolverine in Insomniac’s upcoming superhero video game. After receiving support from fans, Hayter has stated on Twitter that he would be interested in the role. Marvel’s Wolverine was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase on September 9, 2021, much to our surprise. Although we expected to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Wolverine surprised us all.
David Hayter voices the one and only Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series so that you may be familiar with his work already. Not only does he act, but he writes too and has a special relationship with X-Men in particular. Hayter is well-known for writing the films X-Men, X-2, and the 2009 Watchmen film. He was also the voice of King Shark in The Flash, which is quite cool. It is safe to say that he is well-integrated into the worlds of superhero movies and games and likely really wants the role of Wolverine.
As the PlayStation Showcase unfolded and fans began to wonder who would become Logan, they turned to Hayter on Twitter. Nicodemus82, a Twitter user, said, “Who else thinks David Hayter ought to be the voice of Insomniac Games’ Wolverine?” David replies, “I confess… David responds, “I admit… It’s exciting.
Insomniac stated that the game was still in its early stages of development, citing the PlayStation blog. This could mean that they are still working out who will play the mutant, which could lead to Hayter being approached. Although this is not confirmation, I am sure they have seen the tweet and may have had to consider it. We are eager to learn more about this project over the next few years.
