Marvel’s Wolverine announced by Insomniac
Marvel’s Wolverine has been announced at today’s PlayStation Showcase, coming to PS5 from Insomniac Games.
The teaser trailer showed little but a plaid-clad figure sitting in a bar. The camera moved to Logan’s fist as a potential attacker snuck up behind him. Logan quickly released his iconic adamantium blades.
Today’s announcement came as quite a surprise, not least because Insomniac – the team behind Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales also announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, featuring Peter Parker Miles Morales, as well as the symbiotic Venom. It is quite impressive that the team has released the standalone expansion late last year and has two additional Marvel projects in the works – as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – which suggests a high level of work efficiency.
We have very little beyond a title. We don’t know much about gameplay, combat, or when the game will be released. Logan looks great in that bar fight. The game is currently in development for PS5, which suggests that it won’t launch on PS4. However, there is no release date. Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023. We know that Marvel’s Wolverine’s development is still in its infancy. A PlayStation blog post states that the title “is a standalone game” directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who acted as creative leads on Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
