“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” and “Wolverine” are PlayStation 5 Exclusives. There is no C
Insomniac Games, a California studio, confirmed the development of two new Marvel games at the PlayStation Showcase stream on September 9. (yet, the same one that gave us our first look at God of War RagnarokGod of War Ragnarok, the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake and many more).
First and foremost, the team is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2working on the sequel of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. It’ll be called Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This one will feature Peter and Miles facing off against Venom. It is expected to be released sometime in 2023. Then there was the surprise: Insomniac also works on a game that is based on Wolverine. What’s the title? It’s a Marvel’s Wolverine at the moment.
It’s not surprising that Spider-Man 2 is slated for 2023, and Wolverine is likely beyond that date. Insomniac will not be developing these games for the PlayStation 4. These titles will only be available for the PS5, just like Spider-Man 2018 was exclusive to the PS4 but not the PS3. The studio tweeted this confirmation as follows:
“We are thrilled to announce that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (and Marvel’s Wolverine) will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. Keep checking back for more details!
Are you disappointed? It’s not surprising that Spidey’s PS4 Adventure is purely new-gen. Sony also stated that it will continue to support the older console until at least 2023. However, Insomniac will be looking to take advantage of every advantage they have in developing for new-gen hardware to avoid any differences in the end product that we’ll see in Horizon Forbidden West 2022.
It is hoped that the PlayStation 5 consoles will be easier to get before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. A short supply of key parts could keep quantities down until 2023, but fingers crossed. We also got a glimpse at the October 2021 Guardians of the Galaxy game. You can read more about them.
