Knights of the Old Republic to return as KOTOR Remake revealed
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Bioware’s precursor to the Mass Effect series and easily among the best Star Wars games ever made, is getting the remake treatment. Yesterday’s Playstation Showcase 2021 featured a trailer with a cinematic trailer that teased the KOTOR remake. It was short on details as well as on running time.
We do know that the KOTOR Remake will be a Playstation 5 exclusive and will also be available on PC
Release Date for KOTOR Remake
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake has not been released yet. However, considering the game’s long-term development (rumors of its existence were heard back in January), it seems reasonable to expect a 2022 release. Considering the original game was released July 15, 2003, the KOTOR Remake may be made to commemorate the series’ 20th anniversary.
Aspyr’s KOTOR Remake
Aspyr is responsible for the development of the updated KOTOR. Aspyr has previously ported the original game on iOS and Android and provided serviceable Switch and PS4 versions of the Jedi Knight and Republic Commando games. It seems that this remake will be more challenging than the original. There are reports that it will feature storylines culled from the original and its problematic sequel, KOTOR 2 The Sith Lords.
Knights of the Old Republic is set 4,000 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga movie. It depicted a more civilized era in the Star Wars timeline when the Galactic Republic was the peak, and the Jedi and Sith were plentiful. Revan is the main character of the series. Since his 2003 debut as a Bioware player, he has grown in stature and has become one of Star Wars’ most beloved characters.
Bioware released the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic after Obsidian’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords. Despite there not being a new Stars Wars game since that has been set such a long, long time ago, hints that the next Star Wars film will suggest that the Old Republic has a great future that the KOTOR remake is integral to.
