Tonight’s PlayStation Showcase 2021 saw Sony Santa Monica debut footage from their upcoming sequel, God of War: Ragnarok. It is set to launch in 2022. Below is the trailer.

A post over on PlayStation Blog from the developers sheds more light on what players can expect from the upcoming game, including the promise that Kratos and Atreus will be able to explore all nine realms, including the previously inaccessible Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard, with new locations, promised for the other realms too.

Additional details are also included, including confirmation that the game takes place a few years after God of War (2018). Atreus is curious about his true identity and could be, while Kratos wants to protect him from the bloody conflict between the Norse Gods. Freya and Thor aren’t giving the boys much choice, and Ragnarok is approaching; this is not a good time for their son and father.
