Ghost of Tsushima – When should you start The Iki Island DLC
You recently bought Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, but are unsure when to begin the Iki Island DLC. These suggestions are based on the game’s difficulty spike, story, and rewards.
The Ghost of Tsushima director’s cut introduced players Jin Sakai to his latest adventure in Iki Island DLC. It’s not a continuation, but rather an untold story that is inserted into the existing story. The biggest problem with the DLC is the choice of when it should be played. The game does not allow to be unlocked until Act 2. However, it allows the player to choose the time and place. It is deliberately vague enough to make it seem appropriate regardless of when the players decide to set sail for the island. Is this true? These are the factors I believe will influence your decision about when to begin the Iki Island DLC.
The DLC can cause a significant increase in difficulty. This is something the game makes clear about. Players are given an alert on-screen to be aware of stronger enemies on Iki before they set out on their journey to the island. There are new enemy types and some areas that are more guarded than on Tsushima. The challenge is made even more apparent by the increasing damage and health of the enemies. It is not difficult but it can be distracting, especially for those who are using Lethal Difficulty.
