Get Next Week’s Free Ultra-Realistic WWI Shooter
You can download a very realistic WWI-style FPS for free starting next week.
Tannenberg is a WWI shooter, released for the first time in 2019. The game received positive reviews at the time, with many noting the immersive atmosphere that made up for the lacklustre action.
Developer M2H claims that the game offers authentic First World War action, with 64-player manoeuvres on the Eastern Front. Grab your rifle and prepare your sabre. Keep your gas mask close while you prepare to participate in one of the most critical conflicts in history!
It has a Metacritic score of 61%, so it’s not something I would shout at to buy. But it’s free, and Tannenberg looks like an excellent way to spend the weekend.
Tannenberg will be free downloadable via the Epic Game Store from July 21 to July 28. The shopkeeping sim Shop Titans will be joining it, with both games replacing action platformer Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.
Metacritic reviews for Tannenberg are a bit subdued. However, Steam reviews are far more positive. According to one of its most recent reviews, the game was compared to Star Wars Battlefront II (the “good one”). Other players seem to like the game’s challenging gameplay, which forces them to think critically about their surroundings and use tactical strategies to survive.
