Fortnite patch notes: v18.00 introduces Sideways, new weapons and reintroduces Shadow Stones and Punchcards.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 just launched. We have a breakdown of Fortnite’s patch notes for update version v18.00. After the Operation Sky Fire live event concluded, the Imagined Order destroyed the alien Mothership, and Slone allowed you to go with it. Many cubes have crashed onto the Island, causing damage to the landscape and opening up portals to another world. Sideways, as it is known, have lower gravity and no buildings. It can only be accessed through anomalies on the Island.
You’ll find new Sideways weapons inside the anomalies and corrupted regions, including rifles or miniguns. The Fortnite Season 8 chapter 2 update includes many other features, such as the return of Shadow Stones and new Fortnite characters. Below is a summary of major changes made to the patch notes.
Fortnite patch notes for Season 8 Update v18.00
With Season 8, Kevin the Cube’s clones have crashed onto the Island’s surface, and players now have access to the Sideways’ alien realm. Sideways Anomalies can be found around the map and in the Sideways Zone. You will have to defeat cube monsters once you enter the Sideways. This dome-shaped arena has lower gravity and prevents you from the building.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 has added two new Sideways weapons. The Sideways Rifle is a semi-auto rifle with a medium range and can be purchased and the Sideways Minigun spews lots of bullets. While both weapons are capable of dealing more damage, they can also be hotter than the others. However, overheating them will result in a lengthy reload period that makes it impossible to fire. These weapons can be found in Sideways Anomalies’ defeated Cube Monsters or on the ground in Sideways Zone. Harpoon Gun and the Automatic Sniper Rifle have made a return to Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8.
Except for some corruption by the cubes, Season 8 did not see any significant changes to the POIs of Season 7. Nevertheless, some pieces have crashed into the Island’s surface due to the destruction of Mothership. These crash sites will allow you to find loot and purple glowing as well as transportation tunnels and Fortnite Shadow Stones. Shadow Stones were first introduced in Season 6. They are small purple cubes you can consume. This temporarily transforms your body into a ghost-like shape, making it almost impossible to see and able you to pass through objects.
With Season 8, new Funding Stations were added to the map. They allow players to contribute Fortnite Gold bars to help fund community projects. First, we will create a network for Turret Stations. These stations will be used to vote for new weapons and to unvault them over time.
Fortnite Punchcards, in addition to the regular quests, are back as an additional way to earn XP. You can work through daily or weekly punchcards. They involve completing quests and general gameplay challenges to earn more XP. Several Fortnite characters have their own quest punchcards. To locate a character, you will need to choose their punchcard and pin them. The questline will be available for you to complete and earn XP and increase your Battle Pass.
