Revenant, get in the robot. Okay, one Neon Genesis Evangelion joke is out of the way. But I’ll be making many more as I write about how Apex Legends makes one of its playable legends look like Shinji Ikari’s in the 90s.

This event will begin next Tuesday, July 19. It features skins that feel almost like homages to anime without actually uttering the characters’ names. I won’t have to watch Evangelioncharacters battling it out like in. Octane’s skin looks like Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece. Wattson seems to be a reference to Naruto, the title protagonist. Mirage’s get-up is based on My Hero Academia’s Deku. Revenant’s inspired get-up is my favourite in Apex Legends_ Gaiden Event. It’s something that I love more than anyone will ever know.

Gaiden Event marks the return for a limited time of Armed and Dangerous mode. This limits weapons to shotguns or sniper rifles and makes loot more challenging to find. As if a father sees you only as a reminder that his wife has died and his grasp on reality. You will receive different rewards for completing the weekly challenges.

Apex Legends will bring back Special Offers that include bundles and cosmetics for a discounted price throughout the Gaiden Event. These will be different each week, just like the weekly challenges. There will be 40 event cosmetics in total over the two weeks. If you collect all of them, you will unlock Bangalore’s Prestige Apex Commander Skin. Shinji, get into the robot. Revenant, I think.
