“Deep Rock Galactic” Attracts Nontoxic Players, Promotes Positivity According to Fans
Online gaming doesn’t have a reputation for being a supportive and happy environment. PlayStation 5 has removed its Accolades feature (in which players send anonymous compliments as badges) because of “lack of use.” This speaks volumes.
There is some good news. Reddit recently highlighted a 2020 co-op shooter for its positive community. This proves that online gaming doesn’t have to be dark and gloomy.
Deep Rock Galactic was published on May 13, 2020. This was, if memory serves, one of the most frightening times we collectively shared as a planet. The entire world was under lockdown, and we didn’t know what Covid had planned for us. It might be due to its caring community. There’s nothing cuddly or fluffy about this game. Perhaps we just needed a friendly atmosphere back then.
Deep Rock Galactic can be played as a co-op. Reddit’s post above explains how elements in the game make it intrinsically healthy.
The game seemed to have come at the perfect time. It’s hard to think of a better way to escape the harsh world outside than to form a team and work together without ego. Everything that is accomplished is for the team. Reddit user u/MangDynasty started this discussion and was very clear about the game’s positive vibes.
His lengthy post outlined a few reasons why the community is never toxic. He also stated that the game is “cooperative to the core” and that the classes and roles encourage expression and teamwork, not optimization. Furthermore, communication is easy, cooperative, positive, and often fully automated.
It sounds like you’ll find a lot of friendliness here, especially considering the game’s fairness concerning microtransactions. Deep Rock Galactic can be your best friend if you feel fragile or on edge.
