A Dude Owns Nearly Every Hot Dog Emoticon on Steam
Everyone thinks of games when someone says Steam. It’s what it is for. Despite the rise in digital game stores such as Origin or Epic Games in recent years, Steam is still considered the leader.
Steam is not just home to games, but also a marketplace that houses a wide range of digital collectables including trading cards and headers as well as emotes. Kotaku reported that one man has made it his mission to purchase every hot dog emoticon, regardless of its purpose.
Brian Haugh (20 years old) has spent the past six years and hundreds of dollars collecting all the 2016wiener emoticons. This emoticon is more than just a hot dog. It also includes shoes. It is a just cause.
He started the mission as an inside joke at 16 and has spent over $250 (about Ps206) on 2525 hot dogs, or wieners as he calls them. “Wieners are always on my mind till the day that I die,” he said.
Haugh says that hot dogs have become an integral part of his daily life. He can even see hot dogs in real life sometimes and cannot help but smile: “It has become my religion.” It’s always there in my head.
Being a collector of hot dogs is a constant struggle. Haugh apparently still checks the market regularly to ensure he has all of them – he only ever missed one wiener that was listed at $400, so he does have some control. He said that the quest for the perfect wiener isn’t finished. “There will always exist a fool who lists a wiener on the market for a few dollars, and I’ll be there when he does.”
